ARE YOU EXPERIENCED AS A QA MANAGER WITHIN THE FOOD HYGIENE/FOOD STANDARDS INDUSTRY?

Ellis Mason have the pleasure of recruiting a Quality Assurance Manager for a well established business based in Basildon. This role will work alongside and support the field based Technical Director. 

As the QA Manager you will have site responsibility for the monitoring and verification of all food safety, legality and quality procedures. 

The role will also involve an element of NPD (new product development).

THE SALARY & BENEFITS

  • Permanent, full time basis.
  • 20 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays - plus the opportunity to buy up to 5 days extra per annum.
  • Salary dependent on experience and knowledge but circa £27,000 - £32,000

THE JOB

The main duties included within the role of the QA Manager, are: 

  • Managing the site transition of the small production area to the BRCGS Food Standard and maintenance of the current BRCGS Storage and Distribution certification across the site.
  • Development and implementation of new procedures and operating standards.
  • Site responsibility for 3rd party audits such as Organic, BRCGS, EHO and Trading Standards.
  • Performing regular checks and audits (GMP, traceability, fabrication, etc).
  • Undertaking quality checks (raw materials, finished products, packaging and traded items), ensuring product safety, quality and compliance. 
  • Following up any non compliances and non conformances, carrying out investigations and implementing corrective measures.
  • Assisting the Technical Director with new product development.
  • Producing products samples.
  • Maintaining a full product library.
  • Calibrating technical measuring equipment.
  • Sample collection for tasting, certification, shelf life testing, etc.
  • Monitoring compliance of the packing area. 
  • Undertaking all intake checks.
  • Assisting in customer complaints investigations.
  • On-site technical representative for any routine services (e.g. pest control)
  • Working with various departments such as customer services, marketing, warehouse to handle any quality related issues. 
  • Being a part of the company audit team. 

To be considered for this role you must have knowledge of food safety and quality assurance that you have built up from working in a food based working environment, preferably at management level (non staff management, this is site management responsibility). You will need to be IT literate and be able to use Outlook as well as Microsoft Word and Excel. 

Any qualifications in the following areas will be advantageous: Food Safety, Food Hygiene, HACCP
