Ellis Mason are recruiting for a TRAINEE SOFTWARE DEVELOPER to join a well-established business in Hitchin.

As a TRAINEE SOFTWARE DEVELOPER, you will be required to demonstrate your commitment to learning "front end" development skills initially, moving on to expand your knowledge into "full stack" development, over time. 

You will be working for a small but established business who will offer extensive training and support, plus career progression.


THE SALARY & BENEFITS

  • Permanent, full time basis.
  • Hybrid role with both office and home working. 
  • Starting salary of £22,000 - £28,000 dependent on experience.
  • Naturally technically minded people without IT experience are considered.
  • 23 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays.

  • Monday to Friday based position 09.00am to 5.30pm.


THE JOB

As the TRAINEE SOFTWARE DEVELOPER, your role will include:

  • Documenting your progress and maintaining all records to allow others to review your code
  • Providing record of your practices and your adherence to company procedures
  • Participating and contributing in regular meetings and discussions
  • Working hard to maintain "information security"
  • After a period of training & development you will begin to discuss ideas internally and analyse requirements to build and document software specifications
  • You will learn and become proficient with a variety of technologies, such as the ones stated below. However, on top of that it is expected you also research & develop potential new avenues of technology that helps to keep the software up to date. 

Technology you would use, include: 

JavaScript/ES6/ES next

JavaScript frameworks (primarily Vue JS; React/React Native; MV* frameworks)

Flux based application state management (e.g. Vuex)

HTML and CSS (HTML5 and CSS3)

Version Control (Git)

Basic Linux/System administration (ability to write scripts in order to allow you deploy and develop locally; ability to transfer documents to servers)

Basic use of Docker (ability to deploy an application using containerisation)
